Johannes Schilling studied mechanical engineering majoring in energy engineering at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He received his master’s degree in energy engineering in 2014 with his master’s thesis on the integrated computer-aided design of ORC processes and working fluids.

In 2015, Johannes continued his work on the integrated design of processes and molecules as a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at RWTH Aachen University, under Professor André Bardow. He extended his work on the integrated design of processes and molecules by designing the equipment, process flowsheets, and mixtures for processes from energy and chemical engineering. Johannes earned his Ph.D. for his dissertation “Integrated Thermo-Economic Design of Processes and Molecules Using PC-SAFT” in 2020. From 2018 to 2020, Johannes led the research team on process design and the working group “Energy systems engineering” at the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics.

Since 2020, Johannes has been a postdoc in the Energy and Process Systems Engineering Group at ETH Zurich, managed by Professor André Bardow.
