Education

The IEPE offers in teaching the basic and transdisciplinary course of thermodynamics and heat transfer, as well as a wide and diverse selection of speciality courses in the research areas of its laboratories. The philosophy of the institute regarding education stresses first the thorough and systematic teaching of the basic principles of the related scientific fields. After this foundation is laid, the student is introduced to and made familiar with the modern, emerging, and future energy technologies.

The institute aims at providing the student with a strong background of fundamental knowledge as well as with a good global awareness of energy technology issues. These are necessary tools for leadership in the technologies of tomorrow.

Special emphasis is put on a systems approach, where optimization of overall static and transient performance (efficiency improvement, pollution and risk reduction etc.) is achieved by comprehensively addressing design issues and analysis.
